Web Scientific, in conjunction with our parent company Thistle Scientific, will be exhibiting at the Autumn meeting of the British society for Cardiovascular Research entitled: Cardiovascular Signalling in Health and Disease held at the University of Reading 8-9th September, 2014. This meeting to be held in the Palmer building will be attended by over 100 researchers as well as exhibitors from a number of well known suppliers.

For this reason we will be posting additional tips and information about selected Web Scientific products on our Facebook page. Highlighting certain products in this way will help point out the superior benefits they have to offer and therefore help our customers, not only in deciding which products best suit a particular application but also encourage the testing of products which may otherwise be overlooked.

In order to accommodate the bacterial QC reference strains which we have agreed to distribute on behalf of the NCIMB, we have allocated a whole new product section to our website under the heading 'Microbiology'. As well as these QC reference strains, we also intend to add a range of complementary products such as bacterial growth media and supplements with the hope of providing added convenience for our customers.

The NCIMB (National collection of Industrial and Marine Bacteria) based in Aberdeen, Scotland (www.ncimb.com) is a Microbiology and Chemical Analysis company which houses the biggest reference collection of industrially and environmentally valuable microorganisms in the UK. The NCIMB specialises in industrial, food and marine organisms and holds over 8,000 strains of bacteria, actinomycetes, plasmids and bacteriophage, nearly all of which are available for immediate dispatch. In a new collaboration, Web Scientific has agreed to distribute for sale the NCIMB’s Microsnap QC culture line. These certified reference strains, which are produced to ISO9001:2008 standards will soon be available in a variety of easy to use formats at an affordable price.

Thistle Scientific (www.thistlescientific.co.uk), parent company of Web Scientific is proud to announce the introduction of seven new suppliers to it's product offering in the last 6 months. These include: AAPPTEC (manufacturer and supplier of peptide synthesisers and reagents), LABOGENE (for the supply of freeze dryers, vacuum concentrators, fume hoods & -80°C freezers), PORVAIR SCIENCES (for the supply of microplates and assay plates as well as vacuum manifolds, heat sealers & evaporators), TITERTEK BERTHOLD (for the supply of the Colibri Microvolume Spectrophotometer), CELLENDES (for the supply of 3D Life Hydrogels for the controlled design of cellular environments in 3D cell culture), ZIATH (for the supply of one and 2D bar-coded tubes and bar code scanners) and SEVERN BIOTECH (for the supply of laboratory chemicals and buffers).

Each of these suppliers manufacture high quality products for the life sciences adding a welcome addition to the existing Thistle range.

We are delighted to introduce our newly updated web site. The objective of this new site is to provide a better, more functional site with as much support information as possible to assist our customers in the buying process. Regular visitors to Web Scientific will see that not all product sections are yet complete. However, all products supplied through our old site are still available and can be ordered in the usual way. We have also introduced a number of new products which are listed in the 'New Products' section of the new site Home page.
